Cómo recopilamos, usamos y protegemos tu información personal
Última actualización: 31 May 2026
This policy describes how FootyIQ Games (“FootyIQ”, “we”, “us”) handles your personal information across the FootyIQ web app (footyiq.games) and the FootyIQ iOS app. If you have questions, get in touch via the contact page.
When you create an account, we collect your email address, a hashed password (handled by our authentication provider — we never see the plain text), and any optional profile information you provide such as a display name. You can also sign in with Google, GitHub or Facebook; in that case we receive your email and profile name from the provider.
We store your game results — scores, completion times, guesses, hint usage, streak counts, and Footy IQ — so the game can resume across sessions, compute leaderboards, and show your stats over time. Anonymous players have the same data stored against a per-device anonymous identifier we generate; signing up later merges that data into your account.
We automatically collect information about how you use the service: pages and screens visited, time spent, interactions, approximate location (derived from IP, never precise GPS), browser or device type, and a unique device identifier. On iOS, this includes the Apple device identifier (IDFV); with your permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt, it also includes the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) — see section 4 below.
When the app or website crashes or errors, we automatically collect a diagnostic report (stack trace, device model, OS version, app version, anonymised user ID if signed in) so we can fix bugs. We don't collect free-text from your device for crash reports.
When you buy a game pack on the web, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details directly — we never see your card number. We receive only a confirmation of the purchase and a transaction reference. When in-app purchases ship on iOS, Apple handles payment and we receive a similar transaction reference for unlocking the pack.
• Provide the games, save your progress and stats, and personalise your Footy IQ across web and iOS.
• Send transactional emails (account, purchase confirmations) and, only if you opt in, daily-game reminders.
• Power the leaderboards, achievements, and streak counters.
• Measure how the service performs (page-load times, error rates, retention) so we can improve it.
• Show ads on the iOS app to keep FootyIQ free — see section 4 below for the ads section in full.
• Detect, prevent and respond to abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
• Comply with applicable legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
FootyIQ uses the following sub-processors. Each operates under its own privacy policy; relevant data is shared with each only to the extent necessary for the function described.
Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication. Stores your account data and game results. (Supabase privacy policy)
Stripe — processes web payments. Receives your card details directly. (Stripe privacy policy)
Apple — provides the iOS App Store, in-app purchases, push notifications, and App Tracking Transparency. (Apple privacy policy)
Google AdMob — serves ads on the iOS app. Receives a device identifier (IDFV; IDFA only if you allow tracking via the ATT prompt) plus context about the app. (Google AdMob & ads)
Google Analytics — measures web traffic. Uses a first-party cookie. (Google privacy policy)
Google AdSense — serves ads on the FootyIQ website. (AdSense & ads)
Sentry — collects crash and error reports. Sees diagnostic data (stack traces, device model, anonymised user ID). (Sentry privacy policy)
Vercel — hosts the website and collects basic delivery telemetry (request paths, response codes, geo region). (Vercel privacy policy)
AWS S3 — stores player images and other static assets.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
The FootyIQ iOS app shows banner ads on the loading screen between games, provided by Google AdMob. These ads keep the app free.
When you first open the app on iOS 14.5+, Apple shows an App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt asking whether FootyIQ may use your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA) to show you more relevant ads.
You can change your choice any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → FootyIQ.
On the website, we use Google AdSense to serve ads under the same general principles. Ads on the web use first-party cookies for measurement; consent is managed through your browser's settings.
FootyIQ is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Ads served in FootyIQ are configured to a PG content rating. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
We retain your account and game data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal, accounting or fraud-prevention purposes (e.g. payment records for tax compliance). Anonymous game results may be retained in aggregate, non-identifying form for statistical analysis.
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) for all traffic, encrypt sensitive data at rest where appropriate, and limit access to personal data to staff who need it for the operation of the service. Authentication tokens are stored in your browser or device's secure storage. No system is 100% secure; we recommend choosing a strong password.
• Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data via your profile settings.
• Delete your account and associated data — use Settings → Delete Account in the app or website.
• Opt out of email reminders (link in any email we send you).
• Withdraw your ATT consent any time in iOS Settings.
• Object to or restrict processing under the GDPR / UK GDPR.
• Request portability of data you provided us, in a machine-readable format.
• Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (e.g. the UK ICO).
To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app delete flow or email us via the contact page.
FootyIQ's sub-processors may store and process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where applicable, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards published by the European Commission / UK ICO.
We'll update this page when the policy changes and update the “Last updated” date at the top. For material changes that affect how we use your data, we'll also notify you in-app or by email.
Questions about this policy or our data practices: reach us via the contact page.
